As you may have seen in recent news, the U.S. Supreme Court has lifted a temporary restraining order that had paused immigration enforcement in Los Angeles. This decision, issued over the dissent of all liberal justices, means that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) can resume actions that disproportionately impact people based on their appearance, ethnicity, language, or type of work, while the case continues in lower courts.
This ruling opens the door to legalized racial profiling. As a community, we must not allow such practices to divide us. Alliance stands firmly with every scholar, staff member, and family, no matter their immigration status. While the uncertainty and fear this creates is real, we remain in unwavering solidarity with our scholars and families.
Ongoing Advocacy and Updates: We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide updates, resources, and opportunities for action.
Safe School Practices: We are reinforcing policies that protect our communities so every scholar and family feels safe, welcomed, and supported.
Training and Workshops: Our Operations team is working with schools to ensure staff are prepared to respond appropriately to any potential on-campus visits by ICE. At the same time, our Advocacy team is continuing to host workshops with immigrant rights partners so families have access to essential information and resources.
