On October 4th, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools hosted the Strong Schools, Stronger Communities innovation conference, bringing together nearly 200 leaders from charter and traditional schools, community organizations, academia, and elected officials to reimagine the future of K-12 public education.
Conference discussions zeroed in on innovative classroom practices and the lessons learned from the pandemic, with a focus on building a “better normal” for LA families rather than reverting to outdated approaches. Leaders shared insights into how schools can use these lessons to foster resilience and adaptability, ensuring students receive a more holistic, future-focused education.
Los Angeles City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, the recipient of the 2024 Alliance Thriving Communities Award, also delivered an inspiring keynote. He emphasized the critical role public schools play as the foundation for thriving communities, highlighting the connection between educational success and community well-being.
A key highlight was the live Q&A session with participants from Reimagining the Alliance Educator: The Podcast, where principals discussed how the podcast addresses teacher burnout while fostering a supportive environment for both educators and scholars. Early successes in teacher collaboration and increased academic support for scholars were also shared, offering a glimpse into the positive changes happening within schools.
