4/30/20 – The Alliance Foundation raises $1 million to support scholars and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On April 1, 2020, the Alliance College-Ready Public Schools Foundation (the Alliance Foundation) launched Together We Rise fundraising campaign. Inspired by the Alliance Luskin Academy High School’s motto, this campaign supports our 28 Alliance school communities through the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the significant challenges posed by the coronavirus outbreak –– including rises in unemployment, technology inequities, and food insecurities that disproportionately impact the communities Alliance serves –– the campaign will support basic human needs and vital educational resources for our 13,000 scholars during the school closure.
In less than two weeks, the campaign has raised $1M of its $2.4M goal. These funds will assist in providing meal deliveries, digital resources for Distance Learning, mental health services, special education support, and virtual college counseling.
“We are incredibly grateful to our broader Alliance community for the courage, compassion, and resolve that will get us through this crisis, and, in the end, make us stronger,” shared Alliance Foundation Executive Director Catherine Suitor.
Thank you to our generous supporters, including the Levine Leichtman Family Foundation. Alliance Foundation Board Member Zachary Levine who noted that “my family and I truly believe that education is the key to a better life. Access to high-quality educational experiences must prevail for all scholars, even in the face of unprecedented obstacles. We appreciate the efforts of Alliance to ensure that scholars continue to receive a world-class education and rise to their fullest potential. It is our great honor to be able to support these efforts during such challenging times.”
